A "Kayaker" from Hell

In 2003, we had our family (the Lafollette – Bertram Clan) reunion as we did so many times before and had a great time. The site was the Barron River State Park in Kentucky – where we had rooms at the last get together here in Tennessee. The Cumberland (in the picture) was very high with rains and the lakes were heavily filled.

I decided to kayak. The pictures depict one cousin (of Barbara’s) “Butch” helping me get in the kayak and getting last minute instructions. The other bystander is Mike Coursey who was the husband of Debbie who died of cancer last fall. All of you met Mike and Debbie – wonderful and kind people.

The kayaking was fun and believe it or not, I toured the entire lake in about six hours. I learned that a kayak is millions of times easier to work than a canoe.

What a time. So Marsha, you are not the only kayaker in the family! ……..Tom
