An Engaging Photo

Since I'm busy scanning... I couldn't resist this early photo.

Family Reunion 1982

These are photos (not very clear) that Angie just found when she was cleaning the closet.  They're interesting... I look like a cousin from the Obama (who I'll be voting for) side of the family.

The Four Amigos, Copper River, AK, 2001

Guys,

Alex took this photo with his throw away camera at our camp at the Copper River in 2001. I have always liked this picture of Phil. It was such a great time.

I wanted to post this picture because it brings back a very good time. I think and believe memories and relationships persist forever.
Hi Everyone -

Just wanted to let you all know that Jon and I have a wedding date - so mark your calendars for Feb 13, 2010.

Chilkoot Trail

Phil, I hope you have your computer fixed.  B and I wanted to share some pics.
Here are some photos from B's album about the Chilkoot that he has loaned to me.

The first is Phil putting on moleskin at a deserted miner's cabin.

Two is B, Phil, and I at the crooked cabin.

Three is Phil and I resting before the hike to the summit.

Four is scrambling over the "pointy headed rocks near the summit (before the snow line).

Five is Phil and I pitching the tent at "Happy Camp"  That day we did three miles up to the summit and six miles more to Happy Camp.

Six is the "never ending" railroad tracks.

Good memories.

WSM Alaska Art Photos 2002

A change of Photos.

In the summer of 2002, after everyone had already left the reunion, Phil took me to an old mining camp on a last day excursion. These are some of the objects I saw at that camp.

Hope you enjoy them. Let me know what you think.

Guys,
Marsha, you took a great photo in MN. We were young in 1982.
Thanks,
Bill

Mastadon Peak, Joshua Tree

MASTADON PEAK
Guys,
This picture has been on our fridge for ever. Bargeman took this photo at the summit of Mastadon Peak in Joshua Tree. It is similar to the one that Tom posted earlier. That was shot at the bottom of the trail.

Bill

PS: I am thinking of posting some "Fine Art" type from an earlier Akaska trip. Post you views.

Chuckle for the Day - "Dog Days"

Attached is a pic of my two hounds taken a couple of months ago. They definitely are showing their age - going on ten years this November. It's hard to realize a decade could go by so fast - yet they are certainly "greybeards" just like us brothers. The one in the foreground is Molly 2 and in the background - Mitchie.

There is nothing like a dog to just feel good about the day......Tom

Barbara Belland

Hi all,
I was going through my Mount St. Benedict Alum-News and I came across this update about Barbara Belland Robinson from Napa, CA. class of 1955, "earlier this year experienced horrific pain in her throat. During a treadmill test, she had five collapsing veins and had to have open heart surgery. She is recovering rapidly and plans to go back to her part time job as librarian in Napa."
Her "spunk" kind of reminds me of Cece.
If you don't think this update is appropriate for the blog, I'll remove it, but I think it is ok.
I wish I had a somewhat current picture of Barbara B, but I don't. If any of you do, or a group picture of the Bellands, it would be nice to see.
Take care all, love, Marsha

I think the photo of Phil is good enough to be a portrait. It was taken at Jack's 60th birthday party. It would make a good painting because it shows Phil in later maturity but looking very handsome. What a neat picture. It is one of my favorites.

The second photo was shot when the four brothers (minus the sister) when we took a drive to "Death Valley" about 2-4 years ago. I can't get the year exactly straight. The drive was quite long and we bounced around in Jack's big truck for several days. I think it was with Phil when he returned to the mainland from Hawaii in Feb. I don't know why Marsha wasn't there. I'm not in the picture because I am taking it with my camera.......Tom

This is my "all time" favorite photo of the sibs. Credit goes to Ms Camille. When she took these photos from on top of the rock, she noted "these will be the keepers, guys." And they are.

photo

Hi all, this was the photo that I thought was very beautiful. I know it is a thin photo and it could probably be worked better than I am working with it, but I think this is a rare photo and I very much enjoy looking at it. Thank you both.
Take care all, love, Marsha

Phil,

It will be wonderful to see you at the end of August. I have truly been looking forward to visiting with you. I've become a huge "Alaska" fan. Am enclosing a picture of us during your visit to California 2 years ago. ....Love from barbara

Phil how are you doing?

Phil Phil,
We love you with all our hearts. How is it going? Dad said that Tom is planning on visiting you at the end of the month. I am so sad that I never was able to come up to Alaska to visit you and your family. Fish camp looks like it would be an awesome time. We are gearing up for another school year and I don't think I'll get the opportunity to hug you again. Phil, I don't want to leave anything unsaid. I want you to know that with every interaction I had with you, you always related to me with a gentle unconditional regard. Your character and personality was such that I always felt cherished and safe. I want to thank you for that. I want you to know that you are loved so much. I love you so much. My life has been enriched with every conversation I had with you and I want you to know that I think of you with a smile because I just love your sense of humor, your sense of honor and your sense of what really matters in life. I want you to know that I believe that there are no accidents in life and I find it an honor and a privilege that you are my uncle. Much love, hugs, and kisses, Laura, Darrell, Ashley and Josh

Greetings from Chicago!

Hey family,

I've been in Chicago for a month now and things are going very smoothly. I moved on from my job at the Cheesecake Factory and found a job at "Mike Ditka's" - a steakhouse owned by former NFL coach and player (da bears!) Although the volume isn't as much as Cheesecake, the menu is more expensive which means overall I should be doing better - so far so good.

As for acting, I had my first audition and actually got into a sketch comedy/improv group here. It's an up and coming group but I feel it will give me an opportunity to perform and hone my craft. All the greats had their starts with smaller companies so this seems to be the first logical step. I'm very excited to be up on my feet again!

The weather has been really muggy lately (high 80's with 60% humidity) but overall it is a beautiful city.

My address is 2756 N. Pine Grove #1112 Chicago, IL, 60614.

Here are some pics I took around the city. The one at the top of the page is the view from my room.

Best wishes to all!

-Alex
