Hola Familia!
Wanted to post a quick hello from the Peace Corps in Ecuador while I have access to the internet! Life down here is pretty good. I have been doing a lot of traveling around the country a lot and seeing all the beautiful sites!  I made it out to the Amazon Jungle and few weeks ago. This week I am heading to Quito in the Mountains, and where I live is a small farming village in the Coast.

I am volunteering in an Elementary school.  I am going to be teaching a health class in the school. I also help with their physical education class as well.  I am also starting to build small gardens for the people who live there.  It is has been a slow  moving process but it has also been really good.  I have attached a couple of pictures for you guys to take a look at. I hope you are all well!
Cheers,
Camille

Tombstone in Argyle

A couple weeks ago the Myerchin tombstone was set in Argyle. I took a trip up there to see how it all looked. Below are some pictures of the stone and cemetery.
It was a beautiful fall day. I really enjoyed the day and the travel.

TRANSIT OF VENUS JUNE 2012

The 2012 transit of Venus, when the planet Venus appeared as a small, dark disk moving across the face of the Sun, began at 03:08 PDT on 5 June 2012, and I finished shooting as the Sun dipped below horizon at 7:08 PDT.  Transits of Venus are among the rarest of predictable celestial phenomena and occur in pairs, eight years apart, which are themselves separated by more than a century: The previous transit of Venus took place on June 8, 2004 (preceded by the pair of appearances on December 9, 1874 and December 6, 1882), and the next pair of transits will occur December 10-11, 2117, and in December 2125.

The images were captured with a digital camera attached to 400mm refractor telescope that was at prime focus. The magnification was approx 8X. A white light solar filter was used on the telescope and the images were converted to grayscale. The last image was captured shooting through the leaves of a tree before the sun dipped below the local horizon.

I'd like to post a couple pics of a new grand son. Little Ignatius Philip Erickson
He was born 3/27 to Joe and Katrina.
And then all 4 'younguns' together.
This would be Theo, Katia, Iggy, and Eli, dear little children.
It is wonderful to see pics of everyone,
brings a smile to the face and a way of 'seeing' each other again.
Post more pictures.... :)
Love to all, Marsha

Photos from the Distant Past

I found these B/W negs in an old family folder that had been tucked away for many years. I was able to shoot the negs on light table and convert to prints in Photoshop. I was attending Art Center at the time, We must have had a get-together with Jack's Family when Tom was in town. I think the photo was taken in the Fall of 1975.

Myerchin Spring Reunion

Guys,
We all had a really great time. Jack is doing well after his surgery.  Tom, Marsh, Naomi, and I went to the Gene Autry Museum in Los Angeles as a day outing. All in all a great reunion. And as you can see, we are all still alive.

Papa Phil's visit to Southeast

Happy New Year Folks. I must confess that I have had a really busy year and so have not had time to get to this blog. My intention is to post a picasa album of my family's trip to Southeast Alaska this summer and share some of the great times we had spreading my dad's ashes in places that he loved.

Please go to the link above and see the pictures of our adventure. I hear from my mom that all the uncles are doing fine. Bill and Jack have changed all their bad eating habits and are doing a lot better. We have chickens so if you every need organic eggs let me know. Ha ha.

Life is good in Anchorage, we have a ton of snow and the kids can jump off the roof of our 2 story house. We are skiing a lot and love the longer days that the spring holds.

Hope this works! Lots of love Germaine

Papa Phil would be proud...

Thought the Myerchin's would enjoy this...Darby Miller (Papa Phil's grandson) won the best quote in Alaska...

But facts are facts and this year Don's crown passes to an anonymous kid who tricked and treated in College Village, dressed as a protestor carrying a tombstone-shaped sign that read: "OCCUPY HAL-LOWEEN The Redistribution of Candy Begins Now."

The anonymous kid is Darby Rial Miller. Wouldn't Phil be proud!
